My name was given to me during a rites-of-passage ceremony as a child. This ceremony highlights a re-naming tradition in my family inspired by our African and Indigenous roots. I believe that names have value. In them, we may find traces of our Past, fuel for our Future, and most of all, a call to Be Present. This concept has a powerful impact on my work.
